IMPRESSION
This little synthesizer is really fantastic. I would have nothing but praise for him. It is of course necessary to accommodate its very stripped programming interface… A small 3-digit LED display (sometimes trying to display a letter but without much pretension) and a sort of matrix of functions / values. But nevertheless by dint of spending hours on them, one comes to very quickly to find oneself there. All is ultimately a matter of habit and practice …

We find a typical pattern with two oscillators that can generate the usual basic waveforms, as well as some « PCM » sounds but these are rather unconvincing I find. Then a simple mixer section and a high-quality filter section. You can play this synth in unison mode and detune the oscillators to generate a sound, monophonic, but extremely powerful and rich! There is a small modulation matrix with 4 inputs which allows you to do a lot of things.

The rendering algorithms are really excellent and we can very frankly realize sounds very close to certain sounds typical of very big « vintage » synthesizers like the Roland Jupiter-8 or the Yamaha CS-80 for instance. There is an effect section (delay / modulation chorus / flanger / phaser) very successfully designed too. There is also a distortion effect available within the oscillator section. The effects are accurate and do not generate noise. I will not dwell on all the functions of this little jewelry, but I use it intensively in all my musical projects, and i bring it with me on stage with Modern Cubism to play the famous analog basses … Domain of predilection of this small Machine :)

Some criticize him for having only four notes of polyphony.
It is true that it’s pretty limited, but its vocation is not to produce large chords on several octaves either. I use it especially for analog basses, special effects, and especially for monophonic sounds extremely thick and deep. It actually produces an enormous heat that is not found in other synth « V.A. » yet sometimes much more expensive !

This synth also acts as a vocoder, but I have never used it for this purpose, being very little attracted by the effects of this kind. On the electronic level, one single DSP (56362) at 100Mhz is used to generate all the sound! This explains, probably, the limited polyphony, but however it’s still a good example of optimization! This is the same « engine » as the Korg MS-2000 whose sound banks are also generally usable.
