IMPRESSION
A synthesizer very simple to program. I only regret that the supersaw generates as much noise. It seems that the main amplitude of this waveform is almost saturated, which is really a shame. Its second con is to not render visually the parameters of the LFO or oscillators when changing pages (tabs) on the control panels. A small LCD or a 3-digit LED display would have been handy, without specially weighing down the control panel.

Otherwise the sounds generated are typically « Roland », but maybe with a pretty raw/harsh kind of filter. However, we have a feeling that this synth can generate sounds warm enough, bass sounds or aggressive leads. There are two LFOs unfortunately pre-wired in the routing of these, but nevertheless it will find there to create interesting modulations.

Basically this synth is as well designed for beginners as synth-nerd. The Roland SH-201 can be played in split mode or dual mode which give a large range of possibilities. I used it on different projects especially for agressive basses and leads.

I also use it mainly on stage because it’s a very handy keyboard controler.
